TIE 2

The VoiceThread was definitely a learning experience for me. Alyssa and I both taught lessons on living and nonliving things so we worked together and created a voicethread with both of our 1st grade classes. We had the students compare and contrast living and nonliving pictures, circle living or nonling things from a picture provided ,and discuss the posters they created. Throughout our voicethread you will see the students doodle, give verbal responses, or type responses.

What worked well:
I found that VoiceThread is really not that hard to work with. We did not have a difficult time uploading any of our pictures. We had a easy time recording our voices as well as the students voices. I think the best part for the students was using the doodling tool. Overall we had a good experience creating our VoiceThread.

What would I do differently:
I wouldn't say I would do anything differently but I do wish we had more time to work with it and see what else VoiceThread has to offer.

Some questions I have:
How can I use this more often?
Would it be to difficult to have the students create one on their own?

TIE 1 Blog

On Tuesday, we uploaded all the identities to the Voicethread that will be used for our lesson. We started on our Blooms and Pedagogical Implications documents and lesson plan. The storyboard that we will be using is a work in progress that we will finish as we finish our lesson. Our TIE lesson  for our 1st graders is a science lesson over living and non living things.

Life Coping Skills

During our lesson I learned how to create a Voice Thread. At first, the thought of trying to figure out Voice Thread was just frustrating to me. But I was proven wrong. Alyssa and I put together some slides that were some Life Coping Skills. Once we created our Voice Thread it took us a little bit to figure things out but after we played around with it some more we realized it was not as hard as it looks. I found it easy to upload pictures off of pinterst, the internet, etc. I am though a little nervous to introduce this to my 1st graders just because I want it to go smoothly but I do think they will be excited to use Voice Thread. I think bringing technology in the classroom will get the children more engaged and will make learning more interesting.

Technology Intergration Experience (TIE) Thoughts

I have been exploring different VoiceThreads to see what would best fit my 1st grade classroom. I have seen a couple of different ones that I think the kids would really enjoy. One of the ones that caught my eye was Publishing Writing in Oral Form. The students are given a topic to write about then; they draw a picture related to their story. They will then read their own story. Another one I liked was, Using Thinking Tools. The teacher called it the prediction key. The students need to use their imagination to answer the question you give them. It lets the students be as creative as they want when thinking of their answer.  I am excited to learn more about VoiceThread because I think tying in technology with the content area is a great way to make learning fun and interesting for the students.
